The Multitude pressed around Him to hear the Word of God - Luke V v.1
I’m sure that that people today mutter, and that they don’t speak clearly on the Radio and Television. I’m also sure that your hearing is perfect.
As we travel with the people of God we hear in Scripture how often they heard the voice of God and as He spoke we find Him amongst other things:-
Guiding them
Reassuring them
Challenging them.
Sometimes they were prepared to hear His Word and it came in ways they expected other times most unexpected and not in ways they thought likely. Think of Elijah!!
Sometimes the words were just dead words on the page yet at other times God Word lived for them.
Those that heard Jesus said Come and hear the one who makes God’s Word Live. Yet others did not hear God speaking and did not respond..
Do we hear as God Speaks to us - today - not just in years past.
He speaks through Scripture.
He speaks through Hymns
He speaks through others
And it is by the power of the Holy Spirit and His living presence that God speaks to us as The Methodist Connection, the fellowship at Grangewood and ourselves are we open to His Word and do we hear is Welcome Voice?
How good is your hearing? Hearing & responding transformed the lives of those called disciples and the multitude who gathered round Jesus. Does it transform us?
