The Grangewood Sapphire Community Survey Report - page 2

Analysis of the replies

9. The  replies encompassed 407 people. 80% lived within 1 mile of Grangewood split 60:40 between Wollaton and Bramcote.  ONS gives a 70:30 split.  The discrepancy may be due to the absence  of any other Community Building or a Post Office  in the Bramcote Sector.

10. 52% of the residents were retired and 13% were children. The corresponding ONS figures for  the community as a whole were 27% and 16%.  . These differences were expected since most of the interviews took place on weekday mornings to target people who were available to benefit from the new provision, for example, mothers of young children and pensioners.

11. 151 replies (81%) of the replies came from the Community at large rather than from Grangewood Church members. These include 56 from households in which, currently, no-one attends any of our activities.

12,  However, in determining the wishes of the Community, all replies are considered equally valid, since even the 20%  who live beyond a mile radius appear happy to travel to us.

13. Many respondents ticked several boxes resulting in 373 suggestions as summarised in the table below

13. About 30 respondents made comments; some referring to specific personal matters.  All the comments were positive with some amplifying the categories in para 12.  For example, art appreciation, painting classes and creative crafts all received a mention.
14. There is clearly sufficient demand for activities to fill the extra space available.
Conclusions
15 The survey achieved the objectives set out in para 4.
16. The detailed results indicate which extra activities are most needed and that the demand justifies the provision of extra facilities.
